Another train leaves from Grand Central Station and lead one to the Poughkeepsie, very close to the mountains and that is the place one can easily take a taxi or a car on rent. One has to just go across a river from the southern ends of the Catskills, when he/she has reached Poughkeepsie.
Another option that one can chose for getting to these mountains is to take a bus. There are websites that can be visited to get the details about the schedule of these buses. Bus lines like Pine Hill Trailways, the Shortline buses etc. can be taken from New York City. These bus lines take the travelers from the New York City to the Saugerties and Woodstock, the places that are very close to the mountains of Catskills. If one lives in the city of Albany, New York then he/she may choose from the bus lines like Peter Pan or the Grey Hound.
If one is to eager to get to the Catskills very soon then it is the best to get to any airport in the region like the airports in Albany or Newburg or Binghamton. These are only at a distance of one hour from the mountains. The best part is that all of these have facility to rent the car.
